Our engineering teams have a wide-range of skills and expertise, from product development to the creation of bespoke software and unique HMIs.

We also specialise in batteries, EV motors and control systems, developing innovative engineering solutions to automotive challenges, with a high-voltage power supply on site.

As an example, one client approached us with a desire for an ultra-lightweight, durable and reliable electric vehicle motor capable of great torque. Over the course of a year we utilised integrated power electronics to meet the challenge, with a 1000Nm, 2000rpm, 600V motor measuring just 85mm long with a 400mm diameter. This incredible water-cooled motor weighed just 35kg and featured multiple redundancies to ensure smooth operation, all while meeting the demanding weight/performance characteristics desired.

We’ve even created our own electric car as a proof of concept. Currently on display at Swansea Maritime Museum, Yr Glanaf has benefited from a number of bespoke components, including:

Control algorithms
– Joystick design (responds to resistance but does not move)
– Camera systems
– Speed displays (colours rather than dials)
– Motor and 30kwh battery
– Two-wheel torque vectoring for steering
– Chassis design

One of our company’s core goals is to create a clean, lightweight electric car battery with a 300 mile range that will charge in just 6 minutes and has a lifecycle longer than the vehicle in which it’s housed. If that’s not a game changer, we don’t know what is.

Instrumentation, embedded controls, plant control, analogue or digital design – regardless of the challenge we can turn any concept into a prototype. We undertake power electronics, field-oriented motor control, simulation analysis, high power converters, advanced energy storage (smart grid) and offer training on all systems as part of our project work.
